Our world is in a state of growing uncertainty. Geopolitical tensions in Europe drive home just how quickly the conditions for medical care can change fundamentally. Even though Germany is not a direct theater of war, the effects on our healthcare system are already being felt today—and will pose even greater challenges for us in the future. The event “Trauma Surgery in an Unstable World” addresses these developments and highlights the resulting challenges for modern trauma surgery. In the fi rst session, we will analyze the
current threat landscape and discuss its potential consequences for hospitals.
We will then turn our attention to the typical injury patterns resulting from armed confl icts. These range from complex trauma and severe burns to infections that arise and must be treated under difficult conditions.
Finally, we turn our attention to the most severe soft tissue injuries, which often necessitate amputations. The subsequent care-particularly through modern prosthetic and joint replacement procedures—places the highest demands on interdisciplinary collaboration and medical innovation.
With this event, we aim not only to impart knowledge but also to foster professional exchange and raise awareness of the challenges that an unstable world poses for trauma surgery.
We are honored to have been able to secure experts from various fields and countries as speakers.
We look forward to your participation and to an intensive, insightful dialogue.
